Myomectomy/Fibroidectomy

Myomectomy, sometimes also fibroidectomy, refers to the surgical removal of uterine leiomyomas, also known as fibroids. In contrast to a hysterectomy the uterus remains preserved and the woman retains her reproductive potential.

Hysterectomy

A hysterectomy is an operation to remove a woman's uterus. A woman may have a hysterectomy for different reasons, including:

• Uterine fibroids that cause pain, bleeding, or other problems.
• Uterine prolapse, which is a sliding of the uterus from its normal position into the vaginal canal.
• Cancer of the uterus, cervix, or ovaries.
• Endometriosis.
• Abnormal vaginal bleeding.
• Chronic pelvic pain.
• Adenomyosis, or a thickening of the uterus.

Hysterectomy is usually considered only after all other treatment approaches have been tried without success.

Tubal Ligation

Tubal ligation is surgery to close a woman's fallopian tubes. These tubes connect the ovaries to the uterus. A woman who has this surgery can no longer get pregnant (sterile).

Tubal Ligation Reversal

Tubal Ligation Reversal, also known as a tubal reversal, an operation to repair tied or obstructed fallopian tubes. For most women, a tubal reversal is the most cost effective treatment to get pregnant after a tubal ligation.
